Prof. Onur Boyman Joins DQBM, Enhancing Clinical and Translational Immunology Research

The Department of Quantitative Biomedicine (DQBM) at the University of Zurich (UZH) is pleased to announce that Prof. Dr. Onur Boyman joined its faculty on February 1, 2025. An internationally recognized immunologist, Prof. Boyman brings extensive expertise in cytokine biology and immune-mediated diseases. His research focuses on understanding how cytokines coordinate immune responses and how cytokine-directed immunotherapies can be optimized for treating conditions such as cancer, autoimmune disorders, and infections.

Prof. Boyman is also the founding director of the Center for Human Immunology (CHI) at UZH, where he leads interdisciplinary efforts to translate immunological discoveries into clinical applications. His recent work includes identifying a biomarker for long COVID, providing new insights into the disease's immunological underpinnings.

By joining DQBM, Prof. Boyman strengthens the department's clinical and translational research capacities, fostering collaborations between basic science and clinical practice. His dual roles as a researcher and entrepreneur—he is CEO of UZH spin-off Seito Biologics—underscore his commitment to advancing precision medicine.

The DQBM community warmly welcomes Prof. Boyman and looks forward to the innovative contributions he will bring to the field of immunology.
