Researchers from the DQBM Bodenmiller Lab contributed to the Swiss TumorProfiler study, which profiled ovarian cancer using up to eleven technologies spanning DNA, RNA, proteins, single cells and functional drug responses. Bernd Bodenmiller jointly supervised the work.
Integrated profiling altered hypothetical treatment recommendations for 76% of patients and could be completed within four weeks. The study also found increased cancer cell divergence and genomic changes following chemotherapy, including whole-genome amplification associated with earlier recurrence. The authors stress that prospective interventional trials are needed to establish clinical benefit.
