DQBM contributes to CROWN challenge study
Researchers have published the outcomes of the Circle of Willis Intracranial Artery Classification and Quantification (CROWN) challenge in Medical Image Analysis. The study evaluated automated methods for classifying Circle of Willis anatomical variants and measuring artery diameters and bifurcation angles on TOF-MRA scans.
The challenge provided a benchmark dataset of 600 annotated scans and compared submissions from six international teams. Results highlighted promising approaches but showed that current methods require further refinement before reaching clinical applicability.
The Menze Lab at DQBM contributed to this collaborative effort, emphasizing the department’s role in advancing quantitative biomedical imaging.
